Location & Terrain
The United Arab Emirates, an adventurous and savvy destination, offers travelers world-class beaches; majestic deserts with mystical oases; the Al Jahar Mountains, with a ranges as high as 9800 feet and anything Nature didn't give them, they've built.
The UAE is located in the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, and bordered by the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf of Oman to the east, Saudi Arabia to the south and west, and the Arabian Gulf to the North. It covers an area of 32,278 sq. miles, slightly smaller than the state of Maine, and has approximately 819 miles of coastline.
And what a beautiful coastline it is, with its display of luxurious resort hotels lined along the renowned Jumeirah Beach with its soft, white sand slipping into the warm, azure waters of the Arabian Gulf or the pristine beaches, beneath mountains and waterfalls in Fujairah, untouched and a diver's paradise or Khor Kalba, the beach famous for shelling and exotic bird watching
However, the desert of the UAE is the lure for many travelers. Many travel to the desert because they have been enchanted by scenes in movies of camel safaris, ancient feudal forts and lush "mid-night at the oasis" gatherings. Some come for the Wadi Bashing...a popular desert sport of 4-wheeling through dry, twisted, rocky riverbeds. Some come for the renewal of the primitive, slowly shifting sand as it silences the hectic, modern world they left behind.
The location is ideal, and the terrain of the UAE is vividly diverse offering adventure, respite, exploration, and experiences like no other travel destination.
